歌词
[Verse 1]
The night in Gethsemane, heavy and still
Sweat like drops of blood, bowing to the Father’s will
A crown of woven thorns, piercing through Your brow
Walking up that road of sorrow, You won't turn back now.
[Pre-Chorus]
Spotless Lamb of God, carrying the weight of sin
Amidst the mocking crowds, You let the dark begin
Walking up to Calvary, where the shadows fall
You took the bitter cup, offering Your all.
[Chorus]
"But He was wounded for our transgressions" (Isaiah 53:5)
"He was bruised for our iniquities!"
The sky turns black, the temple veil is torn in two
Through this perfect sacrifice, You make all things new.
By Your stripes, we are healed, our souls are finally free!
[Verse 2]
Nails through the hands, a fountain of redeeming grace
Water and the blood, washing every sinful trace
Looking at the ones who strike, lifting up Your view:
"Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34)
[Pre-Chorus]
Spotless Lamb of God, carrying the weight of sin
Amidst the mocking crowds, You let the dark begin
Walking up to Calvary, where the shadows fall
You took the bitter cup, offering Your all.
[Chorus]
"But He was wounded for our transgressions"
"He was bruised for our iniquities!"
The sky turns black, the temple veil is torn in two
Through this perfect sacrifice, You make all things new.
By Your stripes, we are healed, our souls are finally free!
[Bridge]
He was oppressed and afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth! (Isaiah 53:7)
Led like a lamb to the slaughter, from the north to the south.
Darkness covers everything, until the ninth hour
A cry that shakes the universe, displaying holy power:
"IT IS FINISHED!" (John 19:30)
[Final Chorus]
"But He was wounded for our transgressions!"
"He was bruised for our iniquities!"
The sting of death is broken, the grave has lost its claim!
The cross of love stands forever, glory to Your name!
[Outro]
It is finished... the debt is paid.
The greatest sacrifice, forever made.
Amen.
